SoftPro vs E-Closing (2026): An Honest Comparison for Title Agencies

SoftPro and E-Closing are both title production systems, but in 2026 they are headed in different directions: SoftPro is owned by Fidelity National Financial and still shipping new capabilities, while E-Closing now belongs to Qualia and sits on Qualia's own list of legacy systems. This is a vendor-neutral read on what each platform does, what the Qualia acquisition means for E-Closing users, and the question neither vendor will ask: do you need to switch yet?

By Rahul Parikh · Published · Updated · 17 min read

SoftPro and E-Closing are both title production systems — the software a title agency or an attorney’s closing office runs its files, commitments, closings, and escrow accounting on. For most of their history they competed as independent choices. That changed on January 29, 2025, when Qualia announced it was acquiring E-Closing, along with RamQuest, from Old Republic Title. SoftPro, owned by Fidelity National Financial since 2012, stayed where it was. So in 2026 this is no longer a comparison of two peers. It is a comparison between an actively developed platform and a capable one whose new owner lists it among its legacy systems.

If you searched “SoftPro vs E-Closing,” you are probably in one of three places. You run ClosingVue, E-Closing’s cloud platform, and you are deciding whether to stay inside the Qualia family or move to SoftPro. You are evaluating SoftPro and ran across E-Closing as an alternative. Or you meant eClosings — electronic closings — and want to know what SoftPro offers for them. This guide answers all three, and every platform fact below is attributed and dated: vendor pages, the acquisition record, and industry coverage.

One thing this guide will not do is pretend the decision ends at the platform. Whichever system you run, the work between systems — order intake, status emails, document chasing, post-closing follow-up — is where most offices actually lose hours. We build that layer for a living, so we will flag where it matters and stay out of the way where it does not.

SoftPro vs E-Closing at a glance

The short version: SoftPro is the incumbent outside the Qualia family, with an active roadmap. E-Closing is a cloud platform built around closers, now owned by Qualia and listed among its legacy systems. The details:

What is SoftPro?

SoftPro was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1984, and has been owned by Fidelity National Financial — the country’s largest title insurance group — since 2012. Its company history page describes it as the nation’s largest provider of closing, title, and escrow software, with more than 17,000 installations used by agents of many regional and national underwriters. Ownership by an underwriter group raises fair questions about neutrality; we work through them, along with SoftPro’s full product line, in our SoftPro vs ResWare comparison.

SoftPro is a product family rather than a single application: SoftPro Standard and SoftPro Select for on-premise deployment, SoftPro Hosted for a vendor-managed cloud deployment, the SoftPro 360 portal connecting to underwriters, lenders, and service vendors, ClosingsLIVE for client status communication, SoftPro Sign for eSign and remote online notarization, and SoftPro Banking for wire transfers.

What matters most for this comparison is momentum. SoftPro is still adding capabilities in 2026: in August it announced a Wells Fargo integration for SoftPro Banking, letting SoftPro Select users initiate wires with the bank and receipt incoming wires to the right ledger from inside the software. For an office leaving a platform on a legacy track, a vendor still shipping new work is part of what you are buying.

What is E-Closing? (The platform, not the closing method.)

E-Closing is a title and settlement software company based in Concord, New Hampshire. Its current platform, ClosingVue, launched in March 2023 as a cloud-based title and settlement production system; at launch, E-Closing said it let users move through files with fewer clicks, see tasks more clearly, and communicate inside the application, as The Title Report noted. The company’s 2023 announcement described thousands of accounts in more than 30 states, and E-Closing positions ClosingVue for the people who actually run closings — paralegals and processors, attorneys, agents, and closers. That explicit focus on attorney offices, not just title agencies, is part of why this decision looks different from a typical agency platform switch.

E-Closing the company vs eClosing the process

The name causes real confusion, and search engines share it. E-Closing — capital E, hyphen — is the software company and its ClosingVue platform. An eClosing is a closing method: a transaction where some or all documents are signed electronically. SoftPro’s own explainer draws the useful line: in a hybrid eClosing only some documents are signed digitally, while in a full eClosing all of them are, often with remote online notarization (RON). If you searched this comparison to learn what SoftPro offers for electronic closings, skip ahead to “eClosings, eSign, and RON” below.

Who owns E-Closing now?

Qualia. On January 29, 2025, Old Republic National Title Holding Company and Qualia announced a strategic partnership under which Qualia acquired Old Republic’s RamQuest and E-Closing platforms; terms were not disclosed. Before the deal, E-Closing was part of Old Republic’s family of title technology companies. Today, e-closing.com is a one-line notice that E-Closing is now part of Qualia, with the customer login and support line still running.

Is E-Closing being discontinued?

No public end date has been announced, but the direction is not ambiguous. In April 2025, Qualia’s own blog said read-only licenses for “legacy RamQuest systems (CCE, One, Horizon, and eClosing)” would remain available after official product sunset dates. That is Qualia’s grouping, and it places E-Closing’s platform on the same retirement track as RamQuest’s products. As of September 2026, Qualia’s product lineup lists Core, Atlas, ResWare, Connect, and its other products; neither E-Closing nor RamQuest appears as a product.

The owner’s own affiliate is moving the same way. Old Republic Title’s Oregon operations went live on Qualia on February 9, 2026, with its Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Washington branches to follow, and Old Republic says its legacy systems are being retired in favor of Qualia Atlas for those direct operations. On its July 2026 earnings call, Old Republic’s title leadership said the rollout began earlier in 2026 and will continue through the end of 2027.

In Florida, the signal is sharper still. The Fund — Attorneys' Title Fund Services, Old Republic’s Florida attorney network, which reports more than 4,000 Florida members — saw ClosingVue become the new production software for members moving off its older DoubleTime system, according to TitleAid, a Florida escrow-accounting firm. As of September 2026, The Fund’s closing-software page features Qualia as its strategic partner and lists SoftPro among its integrated platforms; ClosingVue no longer appears there.

None of this means your ClosingVue files stop working next month. It means the real question is when and to what — and you should get your date in writing.

What happens to your E-Closing data?

Qualia has addressed this directly. Its April 2025 post states that customers own their data, that read-only access to legacy systems continues after sunset so historical files can be searched and retrieved, and that a data-migration tool for moving production data and documents into a searchable repository was planned for later that year. Whether you stay in the family or leave it, confirm three things in writing: how long read-only access lasts, what export format you will receive, and who pays for conversion.

SoftPro vs E-Closing, dimension by dimension

Architecture and deployment

SoftPro gives you a choice: run Standard or Select on your own servers, or let SoftPro host it. ClosingVue is cloud-based by design. If your office wants to own zero servers, both can get you there — SoftPro through its hosted edition. The difference is what you are moving onto: a hosted deployment of an actively developed suite, or a cloud platform whose owner has named it a legacy system.

Integrations and underwriter connectivity

For most offices, this is the dimension that decides it. SoftPro’s eClosings page lists SoftPro 360 connections across the transaction — underwriter connections including FNF’s agentTRAX, First American’s AgentNet, Stewart, and Old Republic, plus lenders, search vendors, eRecording, and wire-fraud tools. If you write with Old Republic, leaving the Qualia family does not mean leaving your underwriter: SoftPro’s Old Republic connection covers electronic policy jackets, policy numbers, and closing protection letters. For ClosingVue, ask Qualia which of your current underwriter and eRecording connections will be supported, for how long, and what carries over to wherever Qualia expects you to land.

Workflow and daily operation

Both platforms automate the production spine: file setup, document generation, settlement statements, and task tracking. SoftPro Select adds tools such as its Task Notification Tool, which sends templated emails automatically when tasks meet set criteria. ClosingVue’s pitch at launch was simplicity — fewer clicks and visible tasks for small teams where the closer is often also the processor. Neither vendor publishes head-to-head speed claims worth repeating, and we will not invent any.

eClosings, eSign, and RON

This is the section for readers who meant the closing method. SoftPro Sign lets an office send eSign-only or eSign-plus-RON packages from inside SoftPro, act as its own notary or use a notary network, and track signed documents back into the file; SoftPro 360 also connects to third-party eClosing and RON providers. E-Closing announced a partner integration for hybrid and fully digital eClosings in 2023. Whether that connection survives the Qualia transition is a question for Qualia — and if you are moving anyway, it belongs on your list.

Escrow and accounting

Both treat escrow accounting as core. SoftPro Banking lets Select users send wires to and receipt wires from integrated banks directly against the right ledger, and SoftPro sells reconciliation reporting services on top of the platform. E-Closing lists reconciliation services among its specialties. For either, the diligence request is the same: show me three-way reconciliation, positive pay, and my underwriter’s audit expectations on my own file types.

Migration and data risk

This is where the asymmetry bites. Staying on ClosingVue defers a migration; it does not remove one. Moving to SoftPro means a conversion project on your timeline: exporting file history and escrow data, rebuilding underwriter and vendor connections, retraining every seat, and running in parallel until reconciliations prove out. Moving within the Qualia family means the same kinds of work on Qualia’s timeline, with the read-only access and migration tooling Qualia has described. Either way, the cost lands on you. The only choice is when, and on whose schedule.

Pricing posture

Neither vendor publishes core license pricing. SoftPro quotes its platform, though its SoftPro Banking page lists package pricing — a $200 monthly minimum at the entry tier and a $1,995 setup fee per bank connector. E-Closing does not publish pricing. For most ClosingVue offices, the number that matters is not a license fee but a migration quote, so get one from every path you are considering, in writing, before you sign anything.

Which should you choose? A decision framework by office profile

The attorney-agent office running closings on ClosingVue

If paralegals run your closings and your underwriter relationship runs through Old Republic, your real question is not “SoftPro vs E-Closing” but which platform keeps your underwriter connections, your document templates, and your staff’s habits intact. In Florida, The Fund now features Qualia and lists SoftPro — so compare those two migrations on equal terms, and do not let a retirement notice set your timeline for you.

The small agency that wants cloud with minimal IT

You have two cloud-first paths: stay in the Qualia family and move to its cloud platform, or move to SoftPro Hosted. Qualia’s case is simplicity and the family’s migration support; SoftPro’s is configurability and an independent roadmap. Our Qualia vs SoftPro comparison works through that head-to-head.

The multi-office operation that needs configurability

If you run multiple branches, complex commercial files, or custom workflows, SoftPro’s modular, configurable model is its strongest argument. The Qualia family’s answer for enterprise complexity is Atlas, the system Old Republic chose for its own direct operations. Make each vendor demonstrate your two hardest file types, not their demo file.

The office that is not ready to migrate yet

If ClosingVue still works for you, you may not need to move this quarter. No public sunset date exists, read-only access has been promised, and a rushed migration is worse than a planned one. Use the time: document your workflows, clean your data, and take the manual work between systems off your staff now. That is the subject of the last section before the FAQ.

Where Qualia, Settlor, and RamQuest fit in this decision

You cannot map this decision without the ownership chart. Qualia now owns its flagship platform, ResWare (since December 2020), and — since January 2025 — both RamQuest and E-Closing. SoftPro, owned by FNF, is the other major incumbent, and Settlor is the notable cloud-native independent.

Qualia vs E-Closing is really a question about migrating within one company: the family is consolidating onto its own platforms, and the practical issues are timing, data access, and price. If you are weighing Qualia against leaving the family altogether, our Qualia vs SoftPro comparison covers the flagship choice. Settlor is the independent cloud path; we compare it head-to-head with RamQuest, including how it stacks up against E-Closing, in our RamQuest vs Settlor comparison. RamQuest vs E-Closing is two legacy platforms from the same deal on the same track; for RamQuest’s reported transition windows, see our RamQuest vs ResWare comparison. And for the wider field, our title production software comparison covers the category.

The question neither vendor will ask: do you actually need to switch — yet?

A title production system migration is one of the most disruptive projects a title office can run — months of data conversion, retraining, and connection rebuilds, absorbed while live closings continue. Sometimes it is worth it: a platform on a retirement track, architecture you have outgrown, or a vendor roadmap you no longer trust. For many E-Closing offices, the first of those now applies.

But be honest about what is actually broken. In most title and closing offices, the platform records the work fine; the losses live between systems — the order acknowledgment someone retypes, the payoff request that sat because one person was out, the “any update?” emails a closer answers all afternoon, the post-closing checklist kept on paper. A new platform does not fix those, because they were never inside the platform. SoftPro’s own tools, like templated task emails, cover part of this; the rest lives between your inbox, your portals, and your team.

That layer is what we build: automation on top of whatever system you run, which reads, drafts, flags, and tracks while your staff decides. Because it sits outside the platform, it travels with you when you migrate — which makes it a sensible first step for an office on a sunset clock. Our guide to automating title company workflows without replacing your software shows what that layer covers. Run that comparison before you sign a migration contract, or book a platform-decision call and we will map it with you. And if automation isn’t the right move for your office, we’ll tell you.

Frequently asked questions

No. E-Closing is a software company in Concord, New Hampshire, whose ClosingVue platform is used to produce title and settlement files; Qualia has owned it since January 2025. An eClosing is a closing method in which some or all documents are signed electronically, often with remote online notarization.

ClosingVue is E-Closing's cloud-based title and settlement production platform, launched in March 2023. E-Closing positions it for paralegals and processors, attorneys, agents, and closers, and said at launch that it lets users move through files with fewer clicks, see tasks more clearly, and communicate inside the application.

Qualia. Qualia acquired E-Closing, along with RamQuest, from Old Republic Title in a deal announced on January 29, 2025; terms were not disclosed. E-Closing's website now states that it is part of Qualia.

Qualia has not published a public end date. In April 2025, Qualia said read-only licenses for its legacy systems, which it listed as including eClosing, will remain available after official product sunset dates. Ask Qualia in writing for the date and migration path that apply to your account.

Qualia states that customers own their data and that read-only access to legacy systems continues after sunset, so historical files can be searched and retrieved. Before you switch, confirm how long that access lasts, what export format you will receive, and who pays for conversion into your new system.

Yes. SoftPro Sign lets an office send eSign-only or eSign-plus-RON packages from inside SoftPro and track signed documents back into the file, and SoftPro 360 connects to third-party eClosing and RON providers. SoftPro describes SoftPro Sign as able to complete a fully digital closing.

Both are now Qualia products, acquired together from Old Republic Title in January 2025, and Qualia lists both among the legacy systems whose read-only access continues after sunset. ClosingVue is E-Closing's cloud production platform; RamQuest's suites, including Complete Closing Enterprise and RamQuest One, connect through its Closing Market network.

It depends on your underwriter connections, your need for configuration, and your timeline. Qualia is the owner's path and has described migration support for its legacy customers; SoftPro is the independent incumbent with broad underwriter connectivity and an active roadmap. Get written migration quotes and timelines from both before deciding.
